The importance of routines

Why routines are important for mental health

Keep a routine – We all react differently to change, but it’s important that we do what’s best for us and what will keep us healthy.  Keeping a routine can give us some structure to our day and help us to feel more in control of ourselves and our environment.

Stay as physically active as you can. Take a walk. Simple activities like gardening, or even climbing stairs and cleaning will help. Do what works for you. Involve other members of your household too. Put some music on and dance around with children. Exercise releases ‘feel good’ endorphins.

For those who want a more structured approach there are plenty of online resources and videos that can help too.
